What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin ceramic shells — typically 0.3 to 0.5 millimetres — custom-fabricated to bond permanently over the front surface of your teeth. They correct chips, gaps, discoloration, and minor misalignment in a single restorative arc.
Each veneer at Lume Dental is hand-layered by our partnered ceramist atelier using feldspathic or lithium disilicate porcelain, chosen for its ability to mimic the translucency and light refraction of natural enamel.
The Process
Digital Smile Design
Using intraoral scanning and AI-powered modelling, we create a virtual preview of your new smile before any preparation begins.
Minimally Invasive Preparation
A conservative 0.3–0.5mm layer of enamel is gently reshaped. Temporary veneers are placed while your custom shells are fabricated.
Ceramist Fabrication
Our partner atelier hand-layers each veneer over 7–10 days, building translucency, texture, and characterisation unique to your anatomy.
Precision Bonding
Using resin cement under isolation protocol, each veneer is permanently bonded and light-cured. Final adjustments ensure a flawless bite.
Why Choose Lume Veneers
Natural Translucency
Feldspathic porcelain replicates the layered light behaviour of biological enamel.
Two-Visit Transformation
From consultation to final bonding, most veneer cases complete in just two appointments.
Shade Precision
Custom colour matching ensures seamless integration with your adjacent natural teeth.
15+ Year Longevity
With proper oral hygiene, high-quality porcelain veneers can last 15–20 years.
Common Questions
How much tooth enamel is removed?
Typically 0.3–0.5mm — about the thickness of a contact lens. This is considered minimally invasive and preserves the vast majority of your natural tooth structure.
Do veneers look natural?
When crafted by a skilled ceramist, porcelain veneers are virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth. The layered porcelain mimics enamel's translucency and depth.
Can veneers stain?
High-quality porcelain is highly resistant to staining — more so than natural enamel. However, the bonding cement at the margins can discolour over time if oral hygiene is neglected.
Are veneers reversible?
Because a thin layer of enamel is removed during preparation, traditional veneers are considered irreversible. We also offer no-prep veneers for select cases where no enamel removal is needed.
